Love is patient, love is kind; it keeps no record of wrongs; it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres - 1 Corinthians 13: 4a;5b;7

God is love.

Think of all the beautiful, amazing things associated with love, and in their truest form is where you will find God. Knowing God isn't about a tough set of rules set out by a judging God. Far from it, it's about an amazing journey with your creator, finding out more about who you are and His incredible plan for you life. We can all testify to the amazing difference He has made in our lives.

This page is here to give you a better idea of what our faith in God is all about, not to convince you of His existence or tell you to follow Him. That's your choice. We just want tell you about Him in the simplest and most honest way we know how.

Firstly, you should know that God accepts everyone with open arms, not matter what you've done in your past, no matter what. You come to Him as you are - there is nothing you need to do first. The reason He can accept you is because his son, Jesus, came and died to pay the price that needs paying for sin, bridging that gap that had been created between God and Man.

To explain, God is called 'holy', which means completely pure. Almost every day of our lives we find ourselves in sin (i.e. not being perfect!) and this makes us 'impure', meaning we can't get to know God. So, what is this "sin" thing?  Put simply it's doing anything that God does not want you to do. Even if what you do is perfectly legal, but God told you not to do it, you've sinned.  Sounds like a tough standard, but God understands that we are never going to be "good enough" to save ourselves, so He sent Jesus, to take the punishment we should have, so that we can be forgiven for what we have done.

So God let His only Son Jesus come down to pay for our deaths with His own horrendous death on the cross. In His death, Jesus paid the price for us - something we could never hope to do by our own efforts. He died for you personally, so that you can know God. That's amazing love. Even better, Jesus rose to life again after His death, and so you can know Him in your life now.

Knowing Jesus is a completely free gift. If you accept this gift, it makes the difference for all eternity whether you will live with God in heaven - or not. God basically wants to give you the gift of eternal life after death, as well as an amazing one while here on earth. It's something none of us deserve, no matter how good we think we are - it's a gift of grace. It's your choice whether or not to receive this free gift. God is offering us the chance to know His incredible love for us (more than you have ever experienced) for free, and giving us the chance to love Him back.

Of course, once you accept God's gift of life, you're not suddenly whisked to cloud 9 in the sky. On the contrary, the best bit has just begun! You now have your whole life ahead of you to live together with a loving God, friend and king. A God that knows you better than you do yourself, who has plans for your life that if you knew them in their entirety, they would blow you away. 'Christianity' is about a personal relationship with God, you and Him. It works on faith. Faith is simply about you trusting in God to guide you, to be there for you at all times, it's about believing in your heart. It might seem a strange concept, but you come to understand very quickly, and His presence with you is a real, day-to-day affair, not just something that occurs on Sunday on a cold pew. God is about 24/7 living, and we can certainly testify to you that it's exciting!!!

Now that you've read all this, we're not expecting you to be convinced of anything, nor do we want you to feel pressured to make a decision. However, if you do feel like you're ready to accept God into your life, to really turn over a new leaf and start afresh, there's only one thing you need to do, which is to pray, asking for forgiveness and committing yourself to God. You don't need to have anyone with you (though that doesn't mean you can't!), because this decision is yours alone to make and it's about you and God. God is there with you right now. All you need to do is ask him into your life by praying a prayer from the depths of your heart somewhere along the lines of the following:
God,

I confess that I've made many mistakes in my life,
and I ask for your forgiveness for everything I've done.

I know that I can’t make up for my mistakes on my own, but
I thank you that Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sins,
and I want to accept your free gift of life.

I want to know you Lord. Take my life – I commit it to you now
– and Jesus, come into my life as my master so that you can
change me and I can become more like you.

Thank you Jesus,
Amen (<-- which means 'I believe')

"God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (Jesus speaking: John 3:16)
